The UoH Participates in the Final Meeting of Marhaba Project

The president of the UoH Dr. Tahsin Abdulkarim Al Zangana together with director of International Relations Mr. Arieann Ali participated in the Final meeting of Marhaba Project on the 2nd and 3rd of July 2018 in Sofia/ Bulgaria.

At the beginning of the meeting, introduction and overview of the project implementation was presented including project fact sheet, mobility flows, total mobility achieved in the project, considerations about the distribution of the nobilities, problems encountered during the implementation of the project and positive inputs during the implementation of the project.

During the meeting, each partner university was given time to offer a presentation about the UoH regarding the strength of the university, leading academic programs, fields of study and areas of interest.

Another part of the meeting was dedicated to read the prepared power point of each university about the project which included the impact of the project in partner universities, successful cases and joint proposals and cooperation initiatives.

It is worth mentioning that during the meeting sustainability and how the program can continue working in the future were highly discussed. Erasmus Mundus is a cooperation and mobility programme in the field of higher education.The MARHABA project promotes 125 flows of students and staff among EU and Iran, Iraq and Yemen in a collaborative framework which includes a balanced representation of 9 Universities in the concerned Third Countries (4 in Iran, 4 in Kurdistan-region Iraq), and another 9 Universities in Europe (Spain, France, Germany, Italy, UK, Portugal, Poland and Bulgaria). A related point to consider is that the former director of International Relations at the UoH Mr. Aram Abdulkarim was coordinator of Marhaba Program for two years and currently Miss Sazan S. Saber is coordinator of the program at UoH since the 10th of January 2017.

The University of Halabja, one of the four universities from Kurdistan Region of Iraq to join the European Union Erasmus Program, Marhaba Project, won 3 awards in the Marhaba Project; the three being two Master scholarships and one Doctorate (PhD). The grantees are Mr. Aram Muhammed Qadir, Mr. Rezhan Hassan Abdulla and Miss Ala Hamid Hussein.
